Atlanta Introduces The Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame

Los Angeles has the Hollywood Walk of Fame and now Atlanta has the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame.

On June 17, the city of Atlanta welcomed its latest attraction honoring influential Black entertainers with the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame. (Source:

Thanks to Georgia State Representative Erica Thomas and BMI’s Catherine Brewton, the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame was welcomed by politicians and musicians in Atlanta on June 17th.

Attendees included Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and mayoral candidates Kirk Franklin and Shirley Caesar.

The plaques for the new walk of fame emblems will be embedded into a sidewalk on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive near the intersection of Northside Drive over the next few weeks.

Tyler Perry & Bishop T.D. Developing Entertainment District & Affordable Housing in Atlanta

Tyler Perry’s latest venture with Bishop T.D. Jakes is nothing short of amazing.

The actor, director and entrepreneur announced that he plans to open an entertainment district next to his Tyler Perry Studios that will include restaurants, retail stores, and a movie theater with the dual purchase of about 130-acres.

Perry is set to receive 37 acres, while T.D. Jakes Real Estate Ventures group will get 94 acres to develop underserved areas with affordable housing for families.

Perry said he is, “grateful for the opportunity this gives Tyler Perry Studios to extend our footprint in Atlanta.” (Source: 11 Alive – Atlanta)

Evrod Cassimy, Morning Anchor on WDIV/, has  partnered with The Detroit Public Schools Foundation, which supports the Detroit Public Schools Community District, with the release of his new single, “Good Enough.”  On the CD cover, Evrod is wearing a mask with Good Enough (the title of his project) on it. When you purchase the mask on, 100% of the sale proceeds will be donated to the DPS Foundation.

Amanda Gorman Adds 1st Poet to Grace the Cover of ‘Vogue’ to her Receipts

Los Angeles resident Amanda Gorman, whose acclaimed poetry reading at President Joe Biden’s inauguration thrust her into the national spotlight, said Wednesday she was thrilled to be the first poet to grace the cover of Vogue magazine. (CBS Los Angeles)

Gorman tweeted she is, “Honored to be the first poet EVER on the cover of @voguemagazine,” and it was a “joy to do so while wearing a Black designer, @virgilabloh.” Amanda continued by writing, “this is called the Rise of Amanda Gorman, but it’s truly for all of you, both named & unseen, who lift me up.”
