Dr. Michael E. Fletcher: 47 Years of Gospel Music Ministry & Still Taking it to New Levels

Dr. Michael E. Fletcher is a musical icon that has dedicated 47 years to the ministry of Gospel music.  Unbelievably he began at the age of seven, as the founder and director of the Pingree Street Community Choir.  By the age of 12, he was the director of music for the Second Canaan Missionary Baptist Church.  Dr. Fletcher is a protégé of the “The Maestro,” the late Minister Thomas A. Whitfield, and has served as a charter member and director of the Whitfield Company for 40 years, as well as Minister of Music to the Gospel Music Workshop of America–Detroit Chapter.

I caught up with this dynamic worship leader – who has been a member and Director of Music of Second Ebenezer Church for 35 years under the leadership of Bishop Edgar L. Vann, Jr.  – to talk about his latest project, “11:00 AM Worship.”

Check out our conversation here:

The Michael Fletcher Chorale was founded in July 1982 and has participated with national organizations such as the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the Gospel Music Workshop of America, the Thomas A. Dorsey Convention, Edwin Hawkins Music and Art Seminar and The Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship under the leadership of Bishop Paul S. Morton and more.

In June 2016, Dr. Fletcher and the Chorale released their fourth CD project entitled; “Michael Fletcher and The Michael Fletcher Chorale 11:00 Worship” which can be found on most streaming platforms.
